Joan Huffer began their journey on the guitar as a bandleader and composer, performing in Los Angeles and the IE with various groups.
Their playing has been influenced by many guitar greats — Wes Montgomery, Isaiah Sharkey, Kurt Rosenwinkel— as well as musicians like Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane. Throughout their time playing, Joan has cultivated experience playing traditional jazz, hip-hop, folk, and indie music.

Joan attended Oberlin College and Conservatory, where they studied jazz guitar and audio engineering. During their time at Oberlin Joan developed a robust repetoire of solo guitar playing, in addition to their experiences playing in small jazz, bosa nova, and hip-hop ensembles. They also spent time working in the conservatory audio department, recording and cataloging student and faculty small classical and jazz performances.
Now residing in Pomona, CA Joan regularly performs in solo and trio settings. They also perform with Dixie Reese’s band, and in the house band at ‘the Gordon House'.
